Students at Imbizo Primary School in Mgiqwa, Ntabazinduna, have been urged to embrace learning, overcome challenges, pursue their dreams with determination, as education remains the bedrock of communities, economies and society at large.
This message was delivered by Shelton Sithole, Secretary-General of the Mgiqwa Development Organisation, during the school’s prize-giving ceremony held on Tuesday.
Founded in 2021, the Mgiqwa Development Organisation is a community-driven initiative made up of about 200 members dedicated to improving the welfare of local residents.
From inception, the organisation has prioritised supporting schools, recognising education as the foundation of sustainable development.
Its long-term vision is to make sure every school in Matabeleland North has access to essential resources, infrastructure and support systems that foster learning and personal growth.
Addressing the learners, Sithole described the students as “the heartbeat of Imbizo Primary School,” saying each child carries unique dreams, talents and aspirations.
“Whether you aspire to be teachers, doctors, engineers, or artists, remember that the journey towards achieving those dreams begins with the commitment you make to your education,” said Sithole.

“Embrace learning with open hearts and minds. Ask questions, seek answers, and never shy away from challenges. Life’s greatest lessons often come from the toughest obstacles.”
Reflecting on his own childhood, Sithole said he once faced many of the same struggles that rural learners experience today, noting that perseverance was what carried him through.
“I learned that the key lies in perseverance and a determination to succeed. Remember, every great achievement was once considered impossible,” he said.
“Surround yourselves with positivity, be it friends, family, or mentors who uplift and encourage you. Don’t be afraid to be a beacon of hope and inspiration for others in your community.”
Sithole also paid tribute to parents and teachers, acknowledging their crucial role in shaping children’s futures.
He stressed that the love, support, and guidance provided at home lay the foundation for academic success.
“Encourage your children to pursue their studies passionately and engage with their educational journey,” he said.
“A child with support at home possesses the wings to soar to incredible heights.”
He further called on the community to collectively address the challenges faced by rural schools, including limited infrastructure and resources.
“Together, we can advocate for more resources, better infrastructure, and support systems that enhance the learning environment for our children,” Sithole said.
“We must come together as a community in solidarity to make sure every child has access to quality education, regardless of their circumstances.”
