Officials in charge of managing water resources and maintaining dams were sentenced to 9 to 27 years in prison for their roles in the devastating Dam failures that killed over 4,000 people last September entire neighbourhoods in Dana were swept away and evacuation measures failed the 12 were accused with various offences including negligence premeditated murder and misusing public funds according to an international investigation released in January the dams failed due in part to poor maintenance and governance.
