ZCA to host a series of activities during the 16 days of activism against GBV
Zimbabwe Christian Alliance (ZCA), in collaboration with the Union for the Development of Apostolic Churches in Zimbabwe (UDACIZA), will hold a series of events to commemorate the 16 days of activism against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) as part of efforts to raise awareness on the scourge that is a violation of human rights.
The 16 days of activity against GBV began on November 25 and will end on December 10 under the global theme ‘Unite! Invest to prevent violence against women and girls.’
ZCA said the church will be part of the campaign as part of the effort to increase the agency to redress cases of GBV within churches.
“The churches will campaign and remind the nation that every human being is created in God’s Image and this places the church in the forefront of the protection of women and girls from any sexual exploitation,” said the alliance in a statement.
For the following two weeks, the church in this campaign will build up pulpit campaigns against GBV through ZCA hubs and UDACIZA churches, according to ZCA.
“A launch of the GBV campaign will be held this Friday on December 1, 2023 at Nkulumane Church of Nazarene starting with a march at Sokusile Shopping Centre and ends at the Nazarene Church in Nkulumane,” said the alliance.
ZCA said besides the launch, a number of programmes have been set aside for the commemoration in the 16 days period.
“The campaign will be flighted on different media platforms such as radio, television and social media. The use of different social media will enable the campaign to reach out to different audiences across the country. To also help us spread the message on the protection of girls in the church sector, clergymen and women will utilise the church space to preach on gender-based violence.”
ZCA said the pulpit campaigns will be done throughout the 16 days of the campaign.
