In a tragic incident, two brothers from Nkayi engaged in a violent confrontation that resulted in the death of one of them.
Enock Ncube (59) has been apprehended by the police for the murder of his brother, Bigboy Ncube.
According to Inspector Glory Banda, Matabeleland North police spokesperson, the incident unfolded on October 28, when Enock Ncube was returning home from a drinking session. As he passed through Bigboy Ncube’s homestead, Bigboy hurled insults at him using vulgar language.
Enock Ncube chose to ignore the insults and continued on his way home. However, he returned armed with an axe.
Upon seeing Enock approaching with an axe, Bigboy also armed himself with an axe, and a heated altercation ensued.
During the struggle, Bigboy fell to the ground, and Enock struck him with the axe on both legs, leaving him severely injured and helpless.
Two days later, Enock took his brother to Gwelutshena Clinic, fabricating a story that Bigboy had been injured in a scotch cart accident. Bigboy received treatment and was discharged, but his condition worsened. On Tuesday of this week, Enock rushed him back to the same clinic, where he was pronounced dead upon admission.
A tip-off alerted the police to the truth behind Bigboy’s injuries, revealing that he had been assaulted by Enock. The police swiftly investigated the matter and arrested Enock Ncube.
Bigboy Ncube’s body was transported to the United Bulawayo Hospitals for a postmortem examination.
