Chamisa asks Speaker to disregard recall of 15 legislators
Leader of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), Nelson Chamisa, has written to the Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Mudenda, ‘pleading’ with him to disregard a letter from Sengezo Tshabangu, who claims to be CCC interim secretary general, purportedly recalling about 15 legislators.
According to Chamisa, the CCC has filed criminal proceedings against Tshabangu since his supposed recall was illegal.
Mudenda may make an announcement this week in Parliament over the recall of CCC members by Tshabangu on October 3, 2023

In a letter dated October 5, 2023, Chamisa confirmed he had seen the Tshabangu recall letter dated October 3, 223 circulating on social media and reported by news media addressed to the Speaker from Tshabangu.
“Pursuant to our letter dated September 11, 2023 in which I advised you on the communication protocols concerning CCC members in Parliament I am writing to confirm that that there has been no changes to the communication protocols outlined in our letter dated 11 September 2023,” Chamisa said.
The opposition leader added that if there were to be any changes to the already mentioned protocols , those would be communicated from his Office of the President.
Chamisa also said Tshabangu was not a member of CCC and as such cannot “provide, avail or adduce evidence of any such member as his name does not appear on any CCC street or village registers of any district , in any province, as administered by the CCC Bureaus of Organising.”
The CCC leader noted the party has no such position of Secretary general or interim Secretary general as alleged by Tshabangu.
“As of the present date, none of the Members of Parliament who were elected under the CCC have been expelled from the party I lead or recalled from the National Assembly or any local council,” he said.
Chamisa described the conduct of Tshabangu as a “wanton violation of our laws and clear act of criminality.”
“ As such, criminal charges have been filed against him. Therefore please kindly disregard the letter in question or any other correspondence from any other person purporting to represent the CCC,” he said.
