Four more Covid-19 deaths recorded in Byo

Bulawayo recorded four more Covid-19 deaths yesterday, statistics from the Ministry of Health and Child Care has revealed. 

Zimbabwe has now lost 1 604 people to the virus. 

The other death was recorded in Mashonaland East. 

This week, the city recorded six Covid-19 deaths. 

“61 new cases (53 local and 8 deportees from Botswana) and five deaths reported in the last 24 hours (7 day rolling average for new cases rises to 34 today from 30 yesterday),” said the ministry reported in their latest update.

The ministry added that 27 cases were reported in Midlands and they are from a child care centre in the province and the outbreak is localised. 

The second province which recorded the highest new cases of covid-19 is Bulawayo with 14 new cases, followed by Matabeleland South with nine cases while Harare, Manicaland, Mashonaland East all recorded three cases, Masvingo recorded two new Covid-19 cases. 

“1 817 tests done today (positivity today was 3.4 percent). As of 3 June 2021, Zimbabwe has recorded 39 092 cases, 36 680 recoveries and 1 605 deaths,” said the Ministry. 

The health ministry  also said 364 340 people have been fully vaccinated. 

“Vaccination update: 1 922 received their first dose today bringing cumulative for the first dose to 684 164 while 6 368 received their second dose bringing cumulative for 2nd dose to 364 340 (as at 1600 hours),” said the Ministry. 

“19 new recoveries reported: national recovery rate stands at 94 percent and active cases go up to 807 today.”
