Man appeals for financial assistance to undergo spinal surgery
A 31-year-old man from Cowdray Park in Bulawayo is appealing for financial assistance to apply for emergency travelling documents to undergo spinal surgery in South Africa.
Khangelani Nkomo was run over by a scotch cart in November last year in Matshetsheni village in Gwanda while coming from getting maize seed.
โAs a family, we wish to send him to South Africa for further medical assistance. The challenge is that he doesnโt have a passport.โ
Ndlovu added, โWe went to the embassy and they told us to apply for a visa which was US$114 by the time while an emergency passport was US$300.โ
Khangelani is currently bed ridden and needs special care.
โThe doctor said he is not supposed to seat up before the operation so he spends most of the time lying on his back and he is in pain. His lower limbs can no longer feel, even passing stool is hard for him, he has to get assistanceโ she said.
Ndlovu added that they have struggled to secure funds to take him for further tests to ascertain his condition.
โWe also failed to secure funds for him to undergo Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) but even if we can get funds to take him to a private doctor here in Zimbabwe that will be also welcome,โ she said.
Those willing to assist Khangelani Nkomo can get in touch with his aunt on 0774 704 273.
