MRP stages protest at Byo Central Police Station

Members of the Mthwakazi Republic Party (MRP) staged a protest in front of the Bulawayo Central Police station on Wednesday morning, demanding the release of their leader Mqondisi Moyo.

Moyo’s whereabouts are unknown amid unconfirmed reports that the police raided his home in the early hours of Wednesday.

The alleged raid could have been linked to the skirmishes the party members caused at Tabas Induna Farm in Ntabazinduna on Monday where they attempted to evict Floyd Ambrose from the farm claiming he was illegaly occupying the land.

Ambrose is involved in a land dispute with Brian Davies.

The party activists armed with knobkerries, besieged on the police station around 8am and staged a protest, demanding the police release Moyo.

They went on to burn tyres and threw missiles at the police who reacted by apprehending some of the protestors and were forced to fire some warning shots to disperse the militant crowd.
