Pedestrian killed by speeding car

A pedestrian died after being struck by a speeding vehicle in Cowdray Park suburb on Monday.

The man who is said to be in his sixties was crossing the road when the speeding car hit him.

Bulawayo acting police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele confirmed the incident.

“Police in Bulawayo are investigating a case of a fatal road accident of fatal road traffic accident which occurred in Cowdray Park Bulawayo. On 26th of October 2020 at around 1400hrs, a fatal road traffic accident occurred along an unnamed road opposite house number 1810 Cowdray Park, Bulawayo where a pedestrian was killed,” said Ass Insp Msebele.

“The driver (36) was driving a metallic silver Toyota Regius registration number AFA 2992 along an unnamed road. He is a holder of a valid driver’s licence. He lost control of the vehicle and hit a pedestrian who was crossing the road. The cause of the accident was speeding”

Ass Insp Msebele said the pedestrian died on the spot due to internal injuries sustained from the accident and was ferried to the mortuary.
