WATCH: BCC speaks on Khami Dam project

The Bulawayo City Council (BCC) says Khami Dam is the only viable source of water they can turn to boost water supplies in the city.

The heavily contaminated dam has been touted as a midterm solution to the city`s water woes with residents currently going for six days without tap water.

This is due to the fact that the three remaining supply dams are currently 28 percent full and are unlikely to last until the next rainy season.

All of the city`s six supply dams are located in Matabeleland South.

Presenting the city`s position before the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Local Government, Public works and National Housing and Thematic Committee on Peaceย and Security, Director of Engineering Services Engineer Simela Dube said the dam, which is full, can provide the much needed water to the city.
