Cowdray Park residents hire prophet to ‘kill’ tormenting goblins

Cowdray Park residents who are allegedly being tormented by suspected goblins have resolved to contribute money to hire the services of a prophet to cleanse their area.

In a heated meeting held on Tuesday, tempers flared as some residents refused to contribute money arguing that only residents who had their properties destroyed the strange creatures should fund the cleansing ceremony.

The goblin(s) has for the past month been allegedly smashing windows and destroying asbestos at about eleven houses in the suburb.

The residents finally settled to contribute ZAR10 per household to raise about ZAR4000 that was charged by a prophet they had consulted.

The area leader, Sylvia Mupagamuri said residents make their contributions using their community cards for transparency purposes.

She encouraged those who were against contributing to assist adding that they might have the same predicament befalling them in the future.

“As it is my house was not affected but we are only doing this to help one another as a united community. Let us look at the greater good that might come out of this cause,” she said.

Menzisi Tshili, one of the affected residents, said he was willing to hire the prophet to cleanse his house if the community resisted.

“We need to understand that this incident has affected many of us. No one is guaranteed of immunity against this. I could get a prophet to cleanse my own house but what about the rest of us?” he challenged.

Another resident, Amon Mpofu, urged the community to work together in unity of purpose to rid the whole area of the alleged goblin.

“What precedence are you showing to us as the youth when you refuse to help each other for the benefit of the community? It is clear that we need someone with expertise to tackle this issue. Each problem hasa unique solution, let’s all together to make sure our community becomes a safe place for us,” Mpofu said.

The area is not new to such strange incidents, in 2018, another goblin nicknamed Maqobola attacked residents.

The residents had to hire the services of one Prophet Siziba to kill the goblin.
