30 more people succumb to Covid-19 in Zim

Thirty more people have succumbed Covid-19 in Zimbabwe in the last 24 hour-cycle while 322 more tested positive to the virus.

Of the new infections, 321 are local transmissions while one is a returnee from Botswana.

The latest Ministry of Health and Child Care report shows that Harare recorded the highest number of deaths (14) followed by Mashonaland East and Masvingo which recorded four each.

Bulawayo and Midlands recorded three fatalities each while Manicaland and Mashonaland Central had one death each.

“322 new cases and 30 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours. 321 are local cases and 1 is a returnee from Botswana,” read the statement.

“Harare recorded a total of 118 new cases which is the highest amongst the ten provinces. A total of 1485 PCR tests were conducted during the last 24 hours. 640 new recoveries were recorded bring the recovery rate to 60.7%.”

As of January 17, Zimbabwe now has 27203 cases, 16512 recoveries and 713 deaths.

Active cases are currently at 9978.
